BFA Painting Senior Show
This work explores the external judgment of a woman’s body, the subsequent internalization of emotions, the conflict to control these emotions, and the vision for acceptance of one’s self.
The bodies are anonymous, painted sensuously as classic nudes, yet posed perversely in a state of discomfort. This is revealing the struggle to reconcile the social ideals of a woman’s position from a physically and emotionally vulnerable state characterized by upbringing and exposure to the world.
